Someone ripped my bumper sticker off

Really.

For the past two months I've been driving around with a Bush and Kerry sticker side-by-side on the back of my car.

Lots of thumbs up and smiles from other drivers.

But I parked my car in the Baptist church lot of my school Monday to attend a two-day teachers conference (ACSI, went pretty well, if you're interested) and returned to find a big blank beside the Bush-Cheney '04 sticker(!)

Just little bits of adhesive residue. Someone ripped the Kerry Edwards sticker right off.

I laughed, the whole thing was absurd anyway.

But, after driving home, I decided to replace it (I had another laying around). It seems that there must be some sort of principle here. It's my bumper sticker. On my bumper.

Tearing down signs and stickers seems very brutish and undemocratic (as in democracy, not the party) to say nothing of private property rights.

I was going to post a photo, but my camera died.

So the stickers are back up, I can't wait to see how long they last.

I can understand someone being puzzled at them both, but hostile?

elgooG

Okay so this is Nat's wife again. So today in my Mass Media class I learned about the coolest website. Go to Google and in type in Google backwards (elgooG) and click on the link that just says elgooG. This search engine puts everything backwards and not just for fun. It is unstoppable from the government. So if you think they are watching you then use this. Okay I was excited about it so I wanted to share. If this is old news sorry.

Viva Cuba!!!

Hey everyone...this is not Nat, this is his wife S-G, I am really excited about my trip so i wanted to share with everyone.
I'M GOING TO CUBA!!!! I am going on a missions trip with a group from school (kind of like PBAU's version of Break on Impact). We will be going through the Bahamas and then flying to Havana. Then from there we will be traveling up the west coast stopping along the way doing some VBS stuff at different locations. Then we will be flying or taking a boat to a barrier island to do some work there. This is like a dream come true (I know that is cheesy) I am sooo excited.
I am really excited, how many people out there can say they have been in a communist country? I never thought I would.

concurrence

I feel strange quoting someone else's blog, but did you read what Jeannette posted? It's such a nice and unexpected feeling when your find someone expressing your own thoughts.

I see government as the preserver of the greatest common denominator of social good--even if it means being slightly different from my personal beliefs. Basically, I don't see it as the preserver of the "American family" or "American values" anymore. The day we elect officials to perform these roles is a sad day.

I really don't care about the government around me. I want the officials to build a stable and economically viable society. But when it comes down to values, I turn to what I believe is the proper context as holder, protector, and sustainer of these values...the church. Not a government, not a school. I don't believe America is on a slippery slope downwards, etc. Sin doesn't get worse. It always is as bad as it's going to get. And the government isn't going to mitigate that situation. If I want to persevere in preserving the family, God has already provided the covenantal community of the church. Government is there for the practical day-to-day sustaining of people: health care, homes, safety, etc., because the rules of ancient Israel don't apply anymore.

2004 Red and Blue counties

See that little bit of red poking out of the grey in South Florida? That is Martin County, 2 to 1 republican. Incidentally, the wealthiest county in the state.

Thanks to Peter for this.

This is from the 2000 election. I hope someone makes one for 2004.
