According to a poll cited by World, "43 percent of Democratic voters say that abortion “destroys human life and is manslaughter”
Can that be right?
I honestly believe that the ranks, power and virtue of the Democratic Party will rise if they accept that many Democrats, Independents, and some Republicans agree with most of the DNC platform but not abortion.
Read a short interesting World article about it here.
I just finished reading Mormon America by Richard and Joan K. Ostling and I found it totally fascinating. I was familiar with the basics and some of the sensational elements of Mormonism, but man, to swallow everything that church teaches you must actively close your eyes to all sorts of nonsense, inconsistencies, regular doctinal changes and loads of other stuff.
Thanks Brynne, for the copy from Dr. Clark's Cults class. Looks like you spent alot of time reading it.
I bought a Book of Mormon at the used bookstore for a quarter, to supplement my reading. It feels strange reading it. Not like I shouldn't be doing it, just weird. I guess it's like how I'm planning on reading the daVinci code sometime just to be familiar with what everyone else it believing nowadays.

I've been paranoid that someone I don't want reading this blog will come across it if they google me, so I've taken off all references to my last name. Am I being paranoid? The thought of one of my students reading this-not that I'm hiding anything, or saying anything that I ought not- I'm just saying.
Austina was down for the weekend. We tried to go sailing three times, and each time we were chased back to the dock by lightning on the horizon.
We spent Saturday wandering around Little Havana and Miami Beach. It's a whole 'nother world there.
Peter and Ben will appreciate the fact that we stopped in a Botanica and picked up some collares de Chango y Eleggua.
Sarah-Ginny cut my hair very short today. Shaved is more like it.
Had a meeting with the administrator of my school today, (school begins in only two weeks-yikes!) and it looks like I'll be picking up a math class to teach.
