I told my 3rd period students about the Wright Bros. flight being exactly 100 years ago this minute and a couple of my students thought that this was amazing and wanted to go tell everyone. So I let them go tell the class across the hall and they burst in all excited screaming about how incredible it was. The other class just kind of sat there.
"That's great, now go away" said their teacher, Ben Carver, a recent Bryan graduate who teaches here. We have a little rivalry going on as I am a recent Covenant graduate. I wear my "Bryan- because not everyone can get into Covenant" shirt and he wears his "Beat Covenant" shirt.
So a couple of weekends ago Sarah-Ginny and I drove up to Auburn Alabama for her grandfather's funeral. Long drive. Lots of people.
Last weekend we visited my uncle and aunt in Key Largo and that was pretty rad. Sometime over Christmas break we will drive down to visit them with Brynne and Bo at a little island that they are renting for a while called Seabird Key. Looks pretty nice.
We went out on my uncle's new motorboat and it was pretty nice. It is kind of weird being in a motorboat instead of sailing. But it is nice having the ability to cover alot of ground quickly. We are talking about getting down to Marina Hemingway outside of Havana sometime soon.
I am writing this during my miniature lunch break between teaching 10th grade World History (today it was the Crusades) and 7th grade world history (the medieval Roman church today).
Sarah-Ginny's grandfather died yesterday morning and we will be driving up to Andersonville, Georgia (where that Confederate prison camp is) and Auburn Georgia. This is only a month or so after her grandmother died and we drove up to Atlanta for that funeral. It is less of a trip than it is for S-G's folks, as they are in Germany.
Every year my family and three other families from my church go camping. Alot of you know some of the people that went, as they went to Covenant at some time, among them Monica Linde, Christie Linde, KC Hudson, Brynne and Bo Lancaster and others. Fun. I've posted some pictures here if you feel like it. We went to a state park near Ocala, Florida and did our thing. Went rowing, saw some monkeys in the jungle, shot stuff at Bo's family ranch, ate a bird. Cool.
Anyway, I've got a stack of papers to grade and no energy to do it.
Did you hear about that anti-semitism is on the rise in Europe? What gives? I think that some people are confusing disapproval with the military policies of the modern state of Israel with anti-semitism.
Man, am I rambling.
I've got some crazy kids in my classes. One of them insists that he's the president of a dock workers' union. One of them talks to bird at lunch. One of them thought that God was Greek.
Rambling again.
